Snoop Dogg Wants to Adopt Namesake Dog

Animals |

While we’re not completely sure if the
Dogg-father is following a vegan diet, we know he has a soft spot for animals.
So, when the hip hop legend heard about an abandoned dog with an interesting
name, he offered to adopt the mutt.

CCTV evidence

In Staffordshire, England, a CCTV camera recorded footage of a man dropping a dog off at the side of a ride.

The footage shows the confused dog trying to follow the man back to the car, standing on his back legs trying to get back into the vehicle with its owner. The man drives off, and the dog is left alone on the cold road.

When the incident came to the attention of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), the organization shared the video in the hopes of raising awareness of the poor pup, whom they named, guess what, Snoop!

RSPCA media manager, Rachel Butler, hoped that someone would come forward with information about the man who abandoned the dog. When sharing the video on Twitter, she said the dog was safe and in good condition.

Going viral

What the animal welfare organization didn’t realize is that the footage would go viral and Snoop became an internet sensation, with many people sharing the pup’s video and wanting to adopt him.

One person whose heart was touched by the dog’s plight was none other than the dog’s namesake himself, Snoop Dogg.

The music mogul then contacted the Daily Mail, a British newspaper, with an offer to adopt the abandoned animal. “It is heartbreaking. There is always room for another dog in Casa de Snoop,” said the muso. “If he really needed a home then he has one with us.”

Many offers

But given the pup’s newfound fame, the star said the RSPCA was doubtless going to be inundated with offers to adopt him. As the hip hop star said: “But I don’t think there is going to be any shortage of loving homes after all the exposure he has got.” And he was right.

The organization fielded thousands of inquiries about the pup, with many people wanting offer the dog a new home.

A home for Snoop

Actually, Snoop isn’t quite ready to be adopted, said the RSPCA on its Facebook page. They do report that he’s an affectionate hound who enjoys cuddles and tickles with staff members. They also say the pup is comfortable and being taken care of.

We hope Snoop finds a loving furever home soon. If he’s lucky enough to be taken in by Snoop Dogg himself, he’s bound for a life of luxury and pampering. But it’s unlikely the pup will be moving continents any time soon.

We’re hoping that a local family will come forward to adopt the boy and give him his a new home, where his cruel former owner is but a distant memory and he lives the life of luxury that all animals deserve.

Good luck, Snoop!
